Lahore, 29th May: According to the report of Baaghi TV, the Tosha Khana reference was heard in the accountability court in Islamabad.
NAB has demanded the arrest of former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Abdul Ghani Majeed. The NAB prosecutor said that warrants should be issued to Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari at their residences.
An application for exemption from attendance was filed by Asif Zardari in the court. The lawyer said that Asif Ali Zardari is ill, exemption from attendance should be granted, but the application was opposed by the Deputy Prosecutor General NAB.
Sardar Muzaffar said that Asif Ali Zardari has been complied with the court summons, despite the compliance of the summons, the accused is absent from the court.
Court has issued an arrest warrant for former PM Nawaz Sharif in the Tosha Khana case.
The accountability court has adjourned the case until June 11.
The court said that Asif Ali Zardari should ensure attendance at the next hearing. Despite receiving notices, Nawaz Sharif did not appear.
Former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that he has nothing to do with money laundering. As Speaker and Prime Minister, he has always respected the judiciary.
The court rejected the pleas to arrest Yousuf Raza Gilani and Abdul Ghani Majeed.
During the hearing on the Tosha Khana reference, the NAB informed the court that former President Asif Ali Zardari and former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif illegally obtained vehicles from Yousuf Raza Gilani. Asif Zardari paid only 15% of the vehicles, and his money was paid through fake accounts.
According to NAB, Asif Zardari as President also received vehicles from Libya and UAE as gifts. As per reports, Asif Zardari used the vehicles himself instead of depositing them in the treasury.
It may be recalled that in January this year, the Executive Board meeting chaired by Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal approved the corruption reference against former President Asif Ali Zardari, Nawaz Sharif and Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Nawaz Sharif and Yousuf Raza Gilani have been questioned about the vehicles of the accused.
It is to be noted that NAB is investigating the personal use of gifts in the Tosha Khana case. In this regard, NAB had also investigated Nawaz Sharif in jail and had sought permission from the court for the same.
Investigating officer Raheel Azam, deputy director NAB had asked the court to allow Nawaz Sharif to be interrogated as an accused. The car was gifted to the Prime Minister of Pakistan by Saudi Arabia in 1997.
