The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) meeting lasted only fifteen minutes due to unavailability of ministers without any result.
According to details, the NCOC meeting on the opening of educational institutions ended without any result due to unavailability of ministers.Earlier, the NCOC meeting on school reopening was scheduled for July 18, 2021. The meeting was to be attended by the education ministers through video link. The schools will be reopened from August 15 or from September 1.
Sources reveals that all the provinces will now take a look at the COVID-19 situation and decide for whether to take exams or extend the holidays. In other words, if the NCOC meeting is not fruitful, the provincial governments will abide by the previous decisions. According to sources, educational institutions across Punjab will be open from August 2, 2021.

As COVID-19 cases escalate, children may be called to school for one or two days a week, while matriculation (9th and 10th) and intermediate (11th) exams will be held as scheduled.
It is to be noted that since the last wave of COVID-19, the number of cases has been increasing in the last few days, due to which a proposal to keep educational institutions closed across Punjab for another fortnight or a month was under consideration.

President Serving Schools Association of Pakistan Mian Riza Ur Rahman had demanded from the NCOC to keep the schools and colleges open even in extreme circumstances. In view of COVID-19, the decision to close educational institutions for one more month has to be made wisely so as not to cause further educational loss to the students.
