Zahir Jaffer's parents' bail plea rejected at sessions court

The Sessions Court in Islamabad has rejected the plea of the Zahir Zakir Jaffer’s parents, Zakir Jaffer and Asmat Adamjee against the police. Islamabad Sessions Judge West Kamran Basharat Mufti also rejected the request of the duty magistrate to quash the remand order.

According to details, Zakir Jaffer, father of Zahir Jaffer, the main accused in Noor Muqaddam murder case, and Asmat Adamjee, mother, had filed a petition against the police for keeping them in custody despite the interim bail. The Sessions Court ruled that the accused were granted bail on July 24 in exchange for Rs. 100,000 bail bonds but the bonds were not collected.

The court said that in case of closure of the bank, the accused could have deposited the money to the accountant of the court, therefore the application against detention and remand order is rejected.

Police had produced Iftikhar and Jameel, two employees of the accused, including the father of the main accused, Zakir Jaffer and mother Asmat Adamjee, in court after the two-day physical remand ended. During the hearing, the police requested to send the four accused on judicial remand which was accepted by the court and the four accused were handed over to the police on judicial remand.

The court ordered that the accused be produced in court again on August 10. The accused’s lawyer Raja Rizwan Abbasi reached the court late. The counsel for the accused asked the court to remove the accused from the case on which the judge remarked that now we have ordered remand.
