NCOC: Covid-19 kills another 25 in Pakistan #Baaghi

Jan 27, 2022: According to the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), 63,272 covid-19 tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours and another 7,539 corona cases were reported.

According to the NCOC, in the last 24 hours, the total number of corona cases in the country has reached 13,093,887 while the total number of deaths has risen to 29,162 and the rate of positive cases has been 11.91%.

The number of Covid-19 cases in Sindh is 533,496, in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 187,983, in Punjab 469,540, in Islamabad 122,098, in Balochistan 34,131 and in Azad Kashmir 36,082. And in Gilgit-Baltistan it has become 10,557.

So far, the highest number of deaths due to Corona has been in Punjab where 13,126 people have lost their lives while Sindh has a death toll of 7,765, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 5,986, while Islamabad deaths stand at 979. Meanwhile in Gilgit-Baltistan 187 died, and in Balochistan 367 while in Azad Kashmir the number of lives lost stands at 752.

Meanwhile with the PSL tournament set to kick off today, Karachi Kings’s President Wasim Akram and two Peshawar Zalmi’s players Wahab Riaz and Haider Ali tested positive for COVID-19 Tuesday, who have subsequently quarantined themselves.

It is a big blow for Peshawar Zalmi as its two key players tested positive for the COVID-19 days before the start of the mega event. The replacement, according to the PCB, will be temporary and the replaced players can re-integrate into the squad after completing isolation and receiving negative PCR results.

According to the corona virus protocols, the PCB will allow a match to proceed even if up to eight team players test positive out of a squad of 20. The eleventh and twelfth players will provide substitutes for the players who tested positive for COVID-19.

The match will be called off if nine members of the squad test positive for COVID-19. However, in the event of an emergency, it has been advised that 20 to 30 players be kept in the hotel’s “secure bubble” by each team.

Should a player test positive for coronavirus, they will be required to isolate for ten days and a substitute will be taken from the secure bubble.
