Need for implementation of Right to Information Law stressed

Lahore: Alhamra Arts Council Executive Director Ijaz Minhas said that “Right to Information Law” is currently not implemented in it’s true sense and the seminar will help create  awareness among the bureaucracy and the general public.

He was speaking at the seminar held on “RTI for Journalists” at the Alhamra Arts Council on Thursday.

He was of the view that in order to attaint a sustainable growth of the society information disclosure is a must.

Dr Altaf, social worker, said that 72 percent of the people do not have any knowledge of the rights.
He said that if the law is implemented people will he able to get required information from the people at the helm of affairs for upliftment of the welfare of the society in batter way.
He said that the people usually want information about health and cleanliness and other areas.

Chief Information Commissioner Mehboob Qadar said that information plays key role in making citizens successful and effective in life.

Information is a main wheel for the all  advancement all across the human civilization, he said adding that the article 19 A of the Constitution is the mother provision for information.

Any citizen can seek any information from the public offices and officers without giving any reason to keep the government functioneries in their revolution, Qadar asserted.

Right to Information Law is basic for human development and advancement, Qadar added.
