NEPRA: Decision to increase the price of electricity

National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has shocked the people by issuing a decision to increase the price of electricity.

It has decided to increase the price of electricity by Rs 1.68 paise for domestic consumers and Rs 1.39 paise for commercial and industrial consumers.

According to NEPRA officials, the increase will not apply to consumers up to 200 units per month, while the increase in electricity prices will be applicable from November 1, 2021.

The increase is applicable for the entire country, including Electric, while the increase in the price of electricity will fetch the government Rs 135 billion annually.

Earlier, the caretaker government dropped petrol bombs on the people for the first time in the history of Pakistan by raising prices overnight. The price of petrol has gone up by Rs 8.3 per liter while the price of diesel has gone up by Rs 8.14 per liter.
