The Noor Mukaddam murder case took one more turn on Monday as the investigation officer told the court that the knife used in the murder did not have the fingerprints of Zahir Jaffer.
According to the details, Noor Mukaddam murder case was heard in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani during which Zahir Jaffer’s counsel asked Inspector Sattar read out the information written in the report recorded in the police diary. SSP Investigation Ata-ur-Rehman reached the court to hear the case.
According to the police official, at the time of Zahir’s arrest, there were no bloodstains on his pants and his fingerprints were also not found on the knife presumed to be the murder weapon.
The lawyers of the accused raised objections to the explanation given by the Islamabad police in the pending case of Noor Muqaddam murder. During a hearing in a local court in Islamabad on Wednesday, Asad Jamal, a lawyer for Ismat Adam G, the mother of the main accused, sought clarification on a statement made by the police on Twitter.
It may be recalled that on Tuesday, Islamabad police had stated on Twitter that traces of blood of the victim were found on the shirt of Zahir Jaffer, the main accused in Noor Muqaddam murder case.
During the hearing in the court of Additional Sessions and District Judge Ata Rabbani on Wednesday, an objection was raised on the explanatory statement made by the police regarding the case. Lawyer Asad Jamal asked the court whether the statement should be made part of the record. On which Prosecutor Hassan Abbas said that the words of the media should be left to the media.
Asad Jamal objected that the statement was made by the Inspector General (IG) police, whether it is the IG or the chief secretary who is subordinate to him. The prosecutor said that this explanation was not given by the IG but by the police. During the conversation, Judge Ata Rabbani said, “Let me see in this case, let’s see what the IG has said in his explanation.”
It is to be noted that during the interrogation of the investigating officer of the main accused Zahir Jaffer’s lawyer Sikandar Zulqarnain at the last hearing, it was revealed that fingerprint marks were not found on the pistol and knife in the forensic report while answering the lawyer’s question. The officer stated that there were no traces of blood on the body of the main accused at the time of arrest.
Following the statements, police issued an explanatory statement on Tuesday stating that there were no traces of blood on the main accused’s pants at the time of his arrest, however, the shirt was bloodied, while the DNA report also clarified that the rape was confirmed. Noor Muqaddam murder case is being heard in the district court of Islamabad in which the lawyer of the CEO of Therapy Works Akram Qureshi is questioning the investigating officer.
Therapy Works again requested to run CCTV in the court room, after which the case of Noor Muqaddam murder was heard on camera. At the request of therapy work, CCTV footage was played in the court room. At the request of the prosecution, the court started hearing these cameras, then the media and unnecessary persons were sent out of the court room.
The main accused Zahir Jaffer was also produced in the court. This time Zakir Jaffer came to the court on his own with the police. At the last hearing, Zakir Jaffer also walked, while before that Zakir Jaffer was brought on a stretcher and chair.
