Noor Muqaddam Murder Case: Petition filed to declare Zahir Jaffar insane #Baaghi

Petition filed in court to declare killer accused Zahir Jaffer insane, during proceedings of the ongoing case surrounding the murder of former Ambassador Shaukat Muqaddam’s daughter, Noor Muqaddam. 

Sikandar Zulqarnain, the lawyer of main accused Zahir Jaffer, filed the petition. The petition states that the accused Zahir Jaffer is a mental patient, and should be given proper medical treatment. The petition was filed in the court of Additional Sessions Judge, Ata Rabbani. The petition further states that the complainants are influential persons and therefore the police deliberately concealed the mental condition of the main accused Zahir Jaffer. Jaffer’s lawyer also requested the court to form a medical board and conduct a check-up.

Earlier, the main accused Zahir Jaffer was produced in court. Watchman Iftikhar and gardener Jan Mohammad were also produced in the court of Additional Sessions Judge, Ata Rabbani.

The defendants’ lawyers cross-examined the prosecution witness in court. The witness said that the samples were collected and signed by me. He added, my name is on the medical report but there is no stamp. The court asked where is Asad Jamal, the lawyer of accused Ismat Jaffer? The junior lawyer said that the lawyer is present in Rawalpindi so he did not come to the court.

The daughter of former Ambassador Shaukat Muqaddam was killed within the limits of the Kohsar police station in Islamabad. While giving a statement regarding the murder of his daughter, Shaukat Muqaddam said that he received a call from the Kohsar police station stating that his daughter had been killed. When O arrived, I saw that my daughter’s throat had been slit. 

Noor Muqaddam’s killer accused Zahir Jaffer, his parents, and other accused were imprisoned in Adiala Jail. Meanwhile, the US embassy has spoken to Zahir Jaffer. Police say a case has been registered under Section 302 of the IPC on the complaint of the girl’s father Shaukat Ali Muqaddam.
