Air travel continues to be severely disrupted in the United States (US), with bad weather in parts of the country adding to the impact of a surge in COVID-19 infections fuelled by the Omicron variant.

According to the details, around 2,723 flight from the United States (US) were canceled from a total of 4,698 flights. In addition, 11,043 domestic flights were delayed worldwide yesterday, out of which 5,993 were to the US.

According to the foreign news agency, the global air travel industry is also struggling with COVID-19 Omicron variant. Many pilots and other crew are on vacation because they have either had coronavirus or have seen a Covid-positive patient and are now in quarantine.

Coronavirus cases have been on the rise in India for the past five days, with more than 27,000 new cases reported in the country on Sunday. However, New Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said there was nothing to worry about as the number of patients admitted to the hospital was low.

The country’s major cities, including New Delhi and the economic hub of Mumbai, are seeing an increase in coronavirus patients. These patients include patients with a new type of COVID-19, Omicron. During the second wave of COVID-19 in India last year, New Delhi was one of the worst affected cities and there was a severe shortage of hospital beds and oxygen.

About 34.9 million people have been infected with coronavirus in India so far, while the number of deaths in the country so far has reached 481,770. India is launching a vaccination campaign for children aged 15 to 18 from Monday and state governments are ready to vaccinate through schools, hospitals and special camps.
