Lahore, 29th August: After carrying out protests on Friday, young doctors have once again taken to the streets against the National Licensing Exam (NLE) in Lahore, Pakistan.

According to details, young doctors in Lahore have taken to the streets on Sunday to protest against the government’s decision that doctors will now have to take the National Licensing Exam (NLE).

Accoridng to reports, police appeared in full readiness today in view of the ongoing protests by young doctors. A heavy contingent of police was deployed outside Barkat Market Examination Center, Lahore, since morning.

While barriers and barbed wire were also installed outside the examination center.

Meanwhile, doctors and students blocked the road from Barkat Market to Kalma Chowk, and police, on the other hand, sprayed pepper spray on the crowd.

According to Young Doctors, shelling was also carried out by the police, as a result of which two doctors lost consciousness.

It may be recalled that young doctors and students of various medical universities had protested against the NLE exams outside Barkat  Market Examination Center, Lahore on Friday, after which the exam was rescheduled for Sunday, August 29.

As per reports, the government has made the National Licensing Exam (NLE) mandatory for all those wishing to practice medicine in Pakistan, and as such, MBBS students and doctors both have taken to both the streets and social media in protest.

Police had charged tear gas shells and batons at the protesters to end the protest.

Meanwhile, the protesters have ended the protest for now. If the government does not reverse the decision, they will once again take to the streets.
