When Prime Minister Imran Khan called Osama bin Laden a martyr, a controversy arose. Political parties, especially the PPP and some leaders of the PML-N, as well as many members of the media, seem to have caught fire. A section of the PTI also looked upset and kept on defending that Khan’s tongue slipped. Although no one said these words, it felt as if all these people were shouting and saying how Imran Khan had the courage to call a person martyr whom the United States has declared a terrorist. Osama bin Laden was called a martyr and how can he be called by this name by Prime Minister of Pakistan. The mindset of our politics and our media is clear. That is, only the United States can decide who is a martyr and who is a terrorist. Whose hands are stained with the blood of millions of Muslims and who one by one pushed many Muslim countries towards unrest and bloodshed.
