Only the United States will decide who is a Martyr and who is a Terrorist: Reports

When Prime Minister Imran Khan called Osama bin Laden a martyr, a controversy arose. Political parties, especially the PPP and some leaders of the PML-N, as well as many members of the media, seem to have caught fire.

A section of the PTI also looked upset and kept on defending that Khan’s tongue slipped. Although no one said these words, it felt as if all these people were shouting and saying how Imran Khan had the courage to call a person martyr whom the United States has declared a terrorist.

Osama bin Laden was called a martyr and how can he be called by this name by Prime Minister of Pakistan. The mindset of our politics and our media is clear. That is, only the United States can decide who is a martyr and who is a terrorist. Whose hands are stained with the blood of millions of Muslims and who one by one pushed many Muslim countries towards unrest and bloodshed.

After 9/11, we proved that we would say and do what America says and what it wants. We also have to look at Islam through the eyes of America. Jihad has no place in the eyes of the United States and that is why we do not talk about jihad.

We talk about enlightenment and moderate Islam because that is what America wants to hear from us. A thousand differences with Imran Khan, but the good thing about him is that, if he thinks that something is true in Islam he openly speaks of it.

Imran Khan’s talk relating to martyrdom of Osama bin Laden rejected the ways in which America speaks. Which is considered as a big “crime”. Those who found fault with Imran Khan’s “crime” blamed Osama bin Laden for terrorism in Pakistan and the thousands of people killed as a result.

It is also being said that Osama and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan were two sides of the same coin and there was no difference between the two.

Our problem is that we will believe in the language of America, that is, its propaganda, but if there is anything from the United States that contradicts that propaganda, we will neither cite it nor give it any importance. On May 3, 2012, some years after the Abbottabad incident, a headline appeared on the Dawn newspaper, entitled “Al Qaeda’s relations with Pakistan were fraught with difficulties.”

The news came from Anwar Iqbal, a senior Dawn reporter from Washington, citing documents of Osama bin Laden captured during the Abbottabad operation. The documents were reportedly released by the US military.

The report said that according to the documents, al-Qaeda had serious differences with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the reason for these differences was the involvement of the TTP in terrorist activities in the country. The report said that two al-Qaeda leaders also wrote a letter to the then leader of the Tehreek-e-Taliban, Hakimullah Mehsud, expressing their displeasure and disapproving of the TTP’s ideology, methods and attitude.

The letter also warned the TTP that if the TTP did not change its stance, which is also against Islamic teachings, al-Qaeda would take public action.

The documents also show that Osama bin Laden had no prior knowledge of the failed attack on Faisal Shehzad of the TTP in New York Square in 2010, and that Osama was disappointed that Faisal Shehzad, who had obtained US citizenship had not only violated his oath but also spoiled the concept of jihad.

Apparently referring to another letter written by Osama bin Laden or another al-Qaeda leader, the news contained the words “Black Reputation of Pakistani Taliban” about the Pakistani Taliban’s reputation.

The letter also said that the TTP carried out attacks on religious and tribal leaders, as well as mosques and public places, targeting innocent people, including women and children.

The documents also misrepresented a video message from an Uzbek fighter calling for bombings of mosques across Pakistan in retaliation for the Lal Masjid incident, saying that whether the mosque belonged to a military or government, it cannot be attacked.

Also, the attacks on mosques and the shedding of innocent blood have always been associated with the worst individuals and groups. With reference to Pakistan and Afghanistan, it was written:

‘I have no doubt that what is happening to the Jihandi movement in these countries is not misfortune, but punishment by God on us because of our sins and injustices and because some of us are silent over these sins.’

The letter then said that a mujahid should not imitate Amir if the Amir’s order leads to disobedience to Allah Almighty. The letter also stated that if a person dies due to a debt of a few dinars (money), his forgiveness is not possible until the debt is paid.

So how is it possible to forgive a person who kills many innocent people or sheds the blood of Muslims unjustly? The letter called on the Pakistani Taliban and Afghan Taliban leaders to consider the matter and stop the killings.
