BEIJING, Oct 21 (Xinhua/APP): Police from 29 provinces and regions across China have detained over 4,600 individuals suspected of illegally selling phone cards and bank cards as of Tuesday, according to the office of an inter-ministerial conference on fighting new types of telecom crimes under the State Council on Wednesday.
A total of 65,000 phone and bank cards were seized in a national campaign targeting such crimes, which was launched on Oct. 10 to curb the high incidence of telecom fraud cases, said the office. In the future, central authorities and local governments will continue to crack down on the illegal sale of phone and bank cards to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the people and ensure social stability, said the office.
