Federal Ministers Asad Umar and Amin ul Haq attended ceremonies for the provision of broadband services in Karachi. The agreement was signed by the CEO of USF (Universal Service Fund) and Vice President of Jazz Network. 

According to reports, the IT Minister Amin-ul-Haq said that the projects would cost an estimated Rs.698,051,300. The first of the two projects is focused on providing services to 359 villages in the region of Kashmore, Shahdad Kot, and Larkana. The second project will cater to 438 villages in the Nowshero Feroz and Shaheed Benazirabad regions at an approximate estimate of 45 crores (Pak Rupees). 

The projects will enable the provision of broadband and internet service to a population of nearly 661,000. According to reports, the projects will be completed in a record time of 12 months. Meanwhile, nine projects have been initiated across Sindh at an estimated cost of Rs.8.48 billion.

Federal Minister Asad Umar said that the country is experiencing a revolution. The Prime Minister had announced a package for Sukkur. Growth in agriculture is key to improving the economy. Pakistan is developing the world’s fifth-largest freelancing community. Imports have increased in the IT industry, jobs are being sold for the youth of Sindh.

On the other hand, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting of the macroeconomic advisory group in Islamabad today. The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Shaukat Fayyaz Tareen, Hamad Azhar, Fawad Chaudhry, Asad Umar, Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar, Syed Fakhr Imam, Minister of State Farrukh Habib, Advisor to the Prime Minister Abdul Razzaq Dawood, Special Assistants Dr. Sania Nishtar, Dr. Shahbaz Gul, Governor SBP Raza Baqir and other relevant senior officials.

According to reports, the meeting reviewed the overall economic situation, government initiatives, effects of rising commodity prices, and a comprehensive overview of the government’s achievements at the economic level in the last three years.

Exports have reportedly been increased by twenty-five percent whereas tax revenue has been recorded at the highest level following a rise of 38% with increased remittances of up to 27%.  In addition to this, record income in the agricultural sector, as well as a profit of Rs.950 billion in the industrial sector has been recorded. 

Development in the IT sector due to the government’s IT policy, after considerably successful tariff negotiations with IPPs has seen a reduction in monthly loans. 

According to reports, the government has fulfilled its promise of a welfare state by launching the largest social security program in the country.
