Pakistan marks five year anniversary of operation Radd-ul-Fasaad

Feb 22, 2022: Tuesday marks five years of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad started by the Pakistan Army against the menance of terrorism, the ISPR said.
Launched on February 22, 2017, the intensive nation-wide operation against terror groups, steered by Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, has successfully thwarted hundreds of terrorist plots across the country.
The importance of the operation in clearing the country of rogue elements was highlighted by the DG ISPR, General Babr Iftikhar in a tweet.

He said the nationwide operation, which translates into “elimination of discord” against terrorist groups, aims to consolidate the benefits of the two-decade-long war on terror and eliminate terrorist remnants across the country. The military spokesman said the operation was continuing successfully as the country was moving from uncertainty to peace. He further said that the success of RUF was possible only because of the blood of martyrs and the spirit of our people.
Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad – Pakistan Army’s sweeping campaign against terrorism – has resulted into elimination of the menace as it cleansed internal and external elements responsible for creating anarchy in the country.
The operation included clearance of the area through kinetic operations and development projects for the socio-economic development of the people. Launched in every nook and corner of the country, it helped restore the state’s writ, especially in the former FATA tribal belt.
At least 67 new Frontier Corps (FC) wings have been established as part of capacity building for law enforcement agencies (LEAs). Since 2017, security forces have trained more than 40,000 police officers, as well as approximately 22,000 levies and special forces personnel across the country.
Under border management, 95% of the fencing work on Pak-Afghan border has been completed while the work on Pak-Iran border is more than 78% complete at present. At least 679 forts, border posts and border terminals were completed, while more than 60,000 square meters were cleared of landmines. In addition, operations in the tribal areas provided comprehensive assistance in restoring the state’s writ on the Pak-Afghan border.
Security of projects like China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was ensured.
More than 1,200 conspiracies hatched by the hostile intelligence agencies (HIAs) were unearthed. In addition to which, all-out security was provided to the polio eradication teams in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan and a peaceful environment was ensured for the arrival of international cricketers in the country as part of the Pakistan Cricket League (PSL).
Moreover, Pakistan saw an increase in religious tourism as followers of Buddhist, Hindu and Sikh faiths flocked to Pakistan in large numbers.
The tribal districts were merged into the K-P and the powers were transferred to the police and district administration.
