Pakistan will start producing electric automobiles this year

Islamabad:Pakistan will begin manufacturing electric vehicles this year, according to Federal Minister of Energy Hamad Azhar. Work on developing charging infrastructure has begun in this area.

According to reports, an event was conducted in Islamabad to discuss electric car charging and other topics. Federal Minister Hamad Azhar, speaking at the event, stated that the government had created an electric vehicle strategy last year, which included tax incentives.

Electric vehicles will be made domestically starting this year, according to Hamad Azhar, and charging infrastructure is a major aspect in this sector, for which the private sector has begun work on developing charging infrastructure.

The charging policy would be given to the cabinet soon, according to the federal minister, who also stated that a clean fuel would be required in the future.

He explained that load shedding is taking place in the coastal parts of Gwadar Turbat and Makran region due to a power deficit in Iran, as Gwadar Turbat and Makran region rely on electricity imported from Iran and are not connected to the national grid.

The government has raised the matter with Iran and demanded that it normalise electricity supplies. Work is currently underway to connect coastal communities to the national grid, which will require a long transmission line. The transmission line project is expected to be completed in two years.
