PCB Chairman expresses displeasure at Yasir Shah's involvement in rape case #Baaghi

Dec 23, 2021: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Rameez Raja is displeased with leg spinner Yasir Shah after a case was registered against him for allegedly aiding and abetting in the rape a minor girl.

Rameez says accusation such as these on famous players of the country like Yasir and their involvement in helping an alleged criminal is “not good for cricket”.

On Monday, the league spinner was named in an FIR lodged at the Shalimar police station in Islamabad. A couple has complained in the FIR that Yasir Shah helped his friend Farhan even though he knew that he had raped their 14-year-old niece and made objectionable videos of her.

In the petition, the victim alleged that Shah’s friend kidnapped her at gunpoint, raped her, made a video of her and later threatened her. He said they warned her to keep his mouth shut or he would make his videos public.

The couple said in the FIR that when they sought help from Yasir Shah, he made fun of the incident and threatened him and his niece. He said he would use his influence to drag them into legal issues, the FIR said.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Rameez said, “This is a no-brainer. Yasir is a circuit player and when we train and educate these players, they are ambassadors and they should know who and where to meet, “Rameez told a press conference in Karachi.

“I don’t know the truth in this matter but the fact is that such headlines are not good for Pakistan cricket and especially at a time when a good element is going on in Pakistan cricket now.”

The chairman said the incident had shaken the PCB’s efforts to project a positive image of Pakistan at the international level.
