Ramiz Raja credits crowds for phenomenal HBL PSL success

Jan 14, 2022: PCB chairman says players who performed well in the past year will be awarded with prizes for extraordinary performances in the year.

“It has been an outstanding season and we will appreciate the players,” Raja said while commending the collective effort by the team throughout the year.

“I hope that the performance will remain good in the future as well,” he added.

Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Rameez Raja hosted a ceremony in the remote pavilion of Gaddafi Stadium to honor the national squad for its outstanding performance in 2021.

Apart from members of the national squad, Abid Ali and Sajid Khan were also invited to the event. The players were awarded prizes last year for their outstanding performance. Earlier, Rameez Raja met with the players who have excelled in the calendar year 2021 at the PCB’s High Performance Center, Gaddafi Stadium.

In attendance were; skipper Babar Azam, wicket keeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan, pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi, former national squad captain Sarfaraz Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Shahnawaz Dahani, Haider Ali, Abid Ali, and Sajid Khan, among others.

In addition to star players, the National squad head coach Saqlain Mushtaq and other cricketers were also present on the occasion.

Aside from Ramiz Raja, the team’s effort was also commended by Muhammad Wasim, the chief selector of the national squad. Wasim said that the Men In Green performed brilliantly in the 2021 T20 World Cup. Wasim said that the credit for good performance goes to both the captain and the players. “While the corona virus is spreading and there is not enough time for such gatherings, it is time to have a good conversation with the players,” he said.

The national squad is being hailed for raising the nation’s head with individual and team performances. Some of their triumphs include; Pakistan beating India for the first time in a world cup match in the 2021 T20 World Cup, Pakistan qualifying for the semi-final in the 2021 T20 World Cup, Pakistan claiming the victory in seven out of nine Test matches in 2021 and, winning two out of six ODIs and 20 out of 29 T20Is all in 2021.
