Oct 8, 2021: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is expected to announce important changes to the national team selected for the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup today.

With less than 10 days to go before the mega event, the PCB is expected to announce significant changes to the final squad that will continue to represent Pakistan in the World Cup.

The national squad selected for the World Cup will enter the bio-safe bubble today. Players will spend a day in isolation after testing for the corona virus. The team will be trained for the tournament at the National High Performance Center (NHPC) from Sunday.

The squad will leave for the UAE on October 15.

Sohaib Maqsood’s chances of retaining his place in the T20 World Cup squad have been dealt a blow as sources said on Friday that the middle-order batsmen were suffering from back pain.

Sources say Maqsood will likely be replaced by offensive batsmen consider Haider Ali.

Meanwhile, chief selector Muhammad Waseem on Thursday had important meetings with former spinner Saqlain Mushtaq, other coaches and captains Babar Azam and Shadab Khan.

The day before, it was reported that at least one or two changes to the T20 World Cup squad could not be ruled out.

At present the T20 squad includes; Babar Azam, Shadab Khan, Asif Ali, Azam Khan, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Imad Wasim, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Sohaib Maqsood, along with traveling reserves – Fakhar Zaman, Shahnawaz Dahani and Usman Qadir.
