Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Division files a complaint with Council of Complaints PEMRA against Hum News channel for airing false information related to his annual tax returns and Council directed Hum News channel to apologize to minister for airing false information.
According to reports of Baaghitv, in a talkshow, Nadeem Malik Live, aired on Hum News Digital channel aired false information regarding Tax Returns filed by Federal Minister for EAD, Hammad Azhar and seek apology from them. The complaint read, the anchor went on speaking false information about minister’s tax returns without providing any evidence . The Council of Complaints PEMRA listened to both parties at length found reply of respondent unsatisfactory. The Council found channel’s action violation of PEMRA Code of Conduct 2015 and directed the concerned directed to air apology with equal degree of prominence in the same program. In case of non-compliance within 15 days, a fine of Rs.200,000 will be imposed on the channel.
