People under 40 not allowed to use AstraZeneca vaccine
Lahore, 10th May: Pakistan has restricted the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine for people under the age of 40. Under the government’s new guidelines, people below the age of 40 years can not use the Oxford-AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. The restriction applies to all people under 40 irrespective of their gender. According to the latest guidelines issued by the government, the interval between two doses of AstraZeneca has been increased to 12 weeks (3 months) instead of 8 to 12 weeks, which was mentioned earlier. Health Director-General Dr. Rana Muhammad Safdar confirmed the latest updates to the local news agency The News. He also told that the recommendations have been made by an expert committee. Dr. Safdar also informed that the guidelines on the use of the COVID vaccine around the world keep on changing. Hence, if required, the latest changes for the AstraZeneca vaccine will be reviewed again.
