According to a report by Baaghi TV, after the TikTok ban, users have reportedly started using the Chinese video-sharing app through VPN proxy.

An application was also filed in the Lahore High Court pertaining to the use of Tik Tok and Likee by means of a VPN proxy. The petitioner said that the PTA had ordered the closure of Tik Tok in compliance with the legal regulations, adding that many users were using Tik Tok through VPN proxies.

The application further states that Tik Tok users are using a similar app, Likee. The use of such apps is giving rise to obscenity, it is a waste of time, the court should order a ban on Likee.

A statement issued by the Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) on October 9th stated that Tik Tok had failed to remove inappropriate and unethical content from the application during the given period. As a result of which TikTok had been shut down in the country. According to the PTA, the Chinese application management had been repeatedly instructed to remove controversial and inappropriate content. However, the app management failed to do so, which led to the ban by Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA).

However, there are now reports that the Federal Minister for IT, Aminul Haq, has announced that he will soon lift the ban on the Tik Tok app in Pakistan. Amin-ul-Haq said that they are also formulating some policies in this regard. Amin-ul-Haq also said that rules and regulations in this regard will be issued soon.
