Dec 5, 2021: Members of National General Council of Pakistan girl guides association marked the international day of volunteers through a cake cutting ceremony to mark the international day of volunteers.
Pakistan girl guides association NHQ celebrated international day of volunteers to acknowledge the services of its volunteers. A cake cutting ceremony was organised in this regard.
Members of National Executive committee and General Council participated. National Commissioner Mrs. Maria Maud Sabri acknowledged the work of the volunteers and appreciated and thanked the volunteers who give their time and efforts without any renumeration.
At the occasion members expressed about what motivates them for volunteering by putting colourful leaves on a tree.
Last month, the PGGA organised a ceremony in connection with International Children’s Day at PGGA headquarters in Lahore. Provincial Minister for Human Rights Ejaz Alam Augustine attended the ceremony as chief guest while representatives of social welfare organisations and students of various educational institutions were also present.
Addressing a PGGA summer camp event in Ghora Gali, Murree, Pakistan’s First Lady, Samina Alvi said the PGGA could play a significant role in nation-building by rendering positive contribution towards reformation of society. She emphasized that it is the need of the hour to work for the betterment of the community as the government cannot achieve targets of resolving social issues in isolation.
The First Lady pledged to lead the movement entrusted by the Father of Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, with an objective to serve the country.
She lauded the Girl Guides Association for inculcating good values in young women and educating them about the humanist approach as well.
