PIA aircrafts lease expired, airline makes an important decision
KARACHI: The aircrafts leased by the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will expire next year for which a committee has been constituted to terminate the lease of six Airbus 320 aircrafts.
Regarding the expiration of the lease of six planes of the national airline, the sources said that out of the six planes leased, the first plane will return from March 2021 while the last plane will be returned in August 2021.

The PIA has set up an 11-member committee headed by Syed Majid Humail, which includes Salahuddin Azhar, Salman Ahmed, Amjad Hanif, Musawer Abbas, Bakhat Azam, Sadia Moin, Ahmar Abbas, Mujeeb Sheikh and Wali Sohaib.
According to sources, PIA had leased six Airbus 320 aircraft. The committee will conduct a detailed inspection of the leased aircrafts next year, and all departments will be required to provide information to the committee.
The inquiry committee will compile a report based on information from aircrafts and other sources. PIA Chief Engineer Najeeb Ahmed has issued a notification in this regard.
According to the PIA spokesman, lease of the aircrafts was a complicated process, adding that the extension or cancellation of tenders would depend on the investigation report. According to international law, the ship must be returned in the same condition in which it was obtained.
