Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and SereneAir are launching domestic flight operations from today in which flights will be operated to Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar.

According to a PIA spokesperson, the first PIA flight from Karachi has left for Lahore earlier in the afternoon while SereneAir flight will fly to Islamabad.

According the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under consideration, social distancing and wearing of face masks is being ensured by the management. Moreover, all inbound and outbound passengers are undergoing a full medical examination.

CAA issued a notification regarding domestic flight services

According to reports of Baaghi TV, this is the first domestic flight that took off after 51 days in the country. PIA flight carrying 84 passengers left Karachi for Lahore, on this occasion, full-proof security measures were taken to prevent the coronavirus.

The return flight from Lahore to Karachi will depart at 4 pm.

Four flights are scheduled from Karachi to Lahore and Islamabad. The planes will be disinfected and one seat will be left vacant among the passengers. The use of masks and sanitizers has also been made mandatory However, food and drinks are not allowed on board, and every passenger will have to fill out a health declaration form.

The second PIA flight will leave Lahore for Karachi at 6.15 pm and SereneAir flight will leave Islamabad for Karachi at 6.30 pm. Domestic flights will be operated from five major airports under the new Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) SOPs.

CAA, on the other hand, extended the suspension of international flights until May 31, but announced the repatriation of 7,000 Pakistanis abroad before Eid ul Fitr, under which 12 flights from the United States would repatriate passengers.
