PIA has sent two more special flights to Kabul for evacuation operation
Aug 20, 21: Two special flights of national airline PIA will leave for Kabul today to bring foreign passengers stranded in Afghanistan to Pakistan.
PIA’s Kabul flight operation is being resumed for which two PIA planes will leave Islamabad for Kabul today. PIA spokesman Abdul A Khan while talking to a private news media outlet said that Talks have been held with Afghan authorities and Kabul Airport management in this regard.
A PIA spokesman hoped the two planes would return home on Friday with passengers on board. Canada also announces resumption of flight operations to evacuate people trapped in Kabul Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says two military planes will help evacuate Canadians, Afghans and others trapped in Kabul. Canada had troops deployed in Kabul before the Taliban took over the capital.
On the other hand, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said that 6,000 people are present at Kabul airport for evacuation. Since August 14, 7,000 people have been evacuated.
People not being able to reach the airport is a matter of great concern for the flight and evacuation operation.
It should be noted that many countries of the western world had approached Pakistan to evacuate their citizens from Kabul.
The United Nations has asked Pakistan to evacuate more than 500 staff members from Kabul. Pakistan has promised to provide on-arrival visa facility to foreigners arriving from Afghanistan.
So far 3 flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have reached Islamabad from Kabul for this special flight mission.
