PIA launches flight to Mashhad, Iran

Dec 30. 2021: Pakistan flag carrier PIA has resumed direct flights to Iran after a five-year gap to develop people-to-people contacts and boost tourism industry.

 

 

PIA Spokesperson Abdullah Khan told IRNA that the first PIA flight departed from Lahore to Mashhad on Wednesday night, while direct flights from Karachi to Mashhad will begin on Saturday. PIA resumed flights to Mashhad after a gap of five years. 

In a tweet, Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Mohammad Ali Hosseini said that the two countries have agreed to promote air cooperation.

On the first flight PK119, 165 passengers left Lahore for Mashhad. Flights to Mashhad are a continuation of the previously launched flights to Najaf, Baghdad and Damascus. With the flight to Mashhad, the pilgrims could reach all the holy places Flights to Mashhad are being operated for the convenience of visitors.

CEO PIA, Arshad Malik said that direct flights to Mashhad were a long-standing demand of pilgrims.  The CEO added, “PIA has always been at the forefront of the religious duty to take pilgrims to the holy places.”

Moreover, these flights provide direct and easy travel to the visitors from all over the region.
