Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Monday strongly lashed out Prime Minister Imran Khan and demanded his resignation for destroying the economy.

Addressing the National Assembly during a session debating on the budget, Bilawal said the prime minister has only two options to either apologize for destroying the economy or step down from his position and let someone else take charge.

Bilawal said the government dropped a petrol bomb on public even before the passage of the annual budget, while oil companies reaped the benefited from the price hike. He asked how any adviser can issue a notification on oil prices which is supposed to be recommended by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

Criticizing the government, the PPP chairman requested the prime minister to stop taking notice. “Whenever the prime minister takes notice of anything, its price gets increased. What are the consequences of taking notices of flour, medicines, petrol by the prime minister,” he asked.

Bilawal further asked, “How is it possible that the one holding fake degree can declare pilots fake?” He claimed that due to the ruling party, the oil companies benefited from the hike in petroleum prices. “The ruling party has usurped the rights of the people,” he added.

“What sort of relief is putting people out of jobs?” he said before the House, adding that not making any addition to salaries and pensions is also an ‘injustice’.

He added the incumbent government has destroyed the country’s economy in only a few months, leaving the people to bear the brunt of rising inflation.  “The skyrocketing prices of all commodities have made the life of a common man miserable,” he added.

Earlier, he demanded that the government must disclose the upcoming agreement being inked with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and said that not only PTI but its coalition partners including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) will be equally responsible for the government’s policies.
