PM to Conduct Forensic Audit of Funds Received by Tour Operators in Hajj Quota

Islamabad September 18 (Online Int’l): Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed forensic audit of the funds received by tours operators under Hajj quota, sources said on Friday.

The sources said that the decision has been taken to control billions of rupees alleged corruptions in the tour operators industry. The audit will also be conducted for the pilgrims who availed the opportunity under the government quota. In this regard, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony Pir Noorul Haq Qadri will hire services of a audit company and the company will conduct audit of all financial matters of the tour operators.

There are over 3000 tour operators registered with the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Inter-faith Harmony and these tour operators receive 40 percent annual quota for making travelling and other related arrangement for pilgrims.

The sources said that the tour operators extract extra money from poor pilgrims.

They charge double or triple amount from poor and unaware pilgrims as compared to the government’s charges. Following complaints regarding exuberant rates of tour operators, the Prime Minister has decided to conduct audit of the financial assets of tour operators.
