In response to a question by host Yasmeen Aftab Ali, leading Pakistani investigative journalist and talk show host, Mubasher Lucman said that as far as the case of journalist Jan Muhammad Mehr’s murder is concerned, I don’t know much about it. There are problems in Kachha, it takes many years of hard work and effort to catch a single criminal. May Allah let it be that those who are identified as the killers are the real killers. The most important thing, and a bigger service would be, to continue to highlight the case through social media. One such example is Noor Mukaddam’s case which survived because we kept it alive via social media, continuing pressure on the police so the culprit couldn’t escape. A similar situation happened in the case of Ayaz Amir’s son – when such a case is raised in the media, it is believed that the killer will not be set free, and the victim will get justice.

In response to another question, Mubasher Lucman said that both [political] parties would like to negotiate, but the PTI will not want to do it at this time because Imran Khan’s efforts will collapse. If they are to join hands with the PML-N or the PPP, whatever alliances are made, will be done after the elections. They will want to do it with the PML-N because they are going to form the government. If the government joins hands, political difficulties will be reduced. If the People’s Party (PPP) takes 50 to 60 seats in the National Assembly and the PTI takes 30 to 40 seats, Independent candidates get 60 or 70 seats then no one can surround more candidates than Zardari. In this case, there is a chance that the PTI will join the government, if not, there will be a strong opposition. Being a part of the system, PTI can make facilitation in its cases easier. All this will happen after the election, while shaking hands with PPP, they will say that we are shaking hands with Bilawal.

In response to another question by the host, Lucman said that the tragedy of Pakistan is that our judiciary is morally, intellectually, and professionally bankrupt. I know that the decision for another case of mine is coming, their verdict may be a penalty after hearing this, earlier in another case they sentenced me to two years which was later appealed for relief. We talk like this, but then we have to suffer because if the judiciary was good, then the entire system would be fine. Everyone has to stand in the court and be held accountable, if the quality of the court and the judges is right, then everything can be fine and there wouldn’t be so many problems – there are no two opinions about it.

In response to the host’s question as to why he switched his political affiliations, Lucman said that I am in favor of Pakistan. I am speaking for Pakistan. If my father is also involved in corruption, then I will voice my concerns against him as well. Am I taking money from PML-N or PTI? Ask Imran Khan if he gave me money to gain my support. Did I get any concessions? Did I become an MNA? I did a program against the JUI against the MQM, I am only doing this for Pakistan. Whoever comes will be in the government and if he/she does not do the right thing, then I will not remain silent.

In response to another question, Mubasher Lucman said that if Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) is to be abolished, then its counter-narrative will have to be given. People will need to be given hope. Take the sign of the bat, make Imran Khan nothing, change the name of Tehreek-e-Insaf to Gajjumata Party, and the people will vote for what Imran Khan says. Nothing can happen with such actions. When the Election Commission creates difficulties for the people, it is wrongly taking the rights of our people. Just like the elections of intra-parties, of other parties, these will also happen in the same way.

Mubasher Lucman further said that when Bhutto fought for five or six seats, no one objected, Nawaz Sharif also contests elections from many seats, you and I cannot change the law. We can give feedback. Let it be that a man wants to stand up from a hundred seats, one seat will remain. Elections will be held on the rest of the seats, everyone is focused on the general election, which is held after five years. If there were local body elections, all the trends would be done for four years. We don’t hold elections, real democracy is the local body. It was not done by any political party. Democracy is closed in the country. Pakistani people have become such a crowd in which snakes are thrown and they are running here and there, nobody knows anything.

Mubasher Lucman further said that while I was coming, I read a statement from the Chief Justice, saying that journalism is highly professional, but today every man grabs a microphone and creates a YouTube channel and becomes a journalist. So Mr. Chief Justice, you have seen fake journalists, why have you not seen at least 25,000 fake lawyers who also voted for you? Look into your system first, we see everyone’s work, not our own. There are at least 25,000 lawyers with fake licenses, there may be more.
