New Delhi (Baaghi TV): Jamia Millia Islamia University student Safoora Zargar has been released from Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

According to South Asian Wire, Safoora Zargar was granted conditional bail by the Delhi High Court yesterday. Safoora is accused of being involved in the Delhi riots.

On her release from jail, Safoora’s husband had reached the jail to pick her up. Safoora Zargar, dressed in a shalwar suit, did not speak to anyone and left in her husband’s car. Safoora Zargar, who is facing imprisonment under the Prevention of Illegal Activities Act, was granted bail by the Delhi High Court yesterday.

According to South Asian Wire, earlier during the hearing of Safoora’s plea in a bench of Justice Rajiv Shakadhar in the Delhi High Court, Solicitor General Tishar Mehta sought adjournment of the hearing, which was granted by the court. It was postponed till June but the next day the High Court granted her bail. This was the fourth attempt to bail Safoora Zargar on which no progress had been made yesterday.

The bail application of Safoora Zargar, who was about 24 weeks pregnant, was rejected by the lower court which was challenged in the Delhi High Court. The FIR under which Safoora has been detained is being investigated for conspiracy to commit Delhi riots, along with the strictest law ‘UAPA’.

According to the South Asian Wire, Safoora was arrested on April 10 and has since been granted bail four times.
