Prince Harry vs British Press: Is History Repeating Itself?

Sussex (2nd Oct, 2019): Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry has taken a powerful stance against the ruthless treatment his wife, Meghan Markle, has had to receive due to the British press.

According to details, Prince Harry has taken the decision to sue the publisher of the Mail on Sunday, because the newspaper had allegedly published a handwritten letter Markle had sent to her father. The decision came as Prince Harry launched a highly personal attack on the British press for its treatment of his wife, the Duchess of Sussex.

Prince Harry has cleared that he could no longer be a “silent witness to her (Meghan) private suffering”. While, lashing out at the British Press, the has Prince said:

Moreover, in light of recent events, the Pronce has made headlines for his comparison of Meghan Markle with his late mother and the people’s favourite, Lady Diana.

Comparing the treatment against Markle to his mother:

Prince Harry has apparently compared the treatment of his wife Meghan Markle to coverage of his mother, the late, Lady Diana. Diana who was considered the most beautiful and famous personality in the world, was only 36 when she was killed in Paris in 1997. Unlike any other, Princess Diana mother of Prince William and Prince Harry, became a royal icon.

The saddest part of the story being that Lady Diana was also heavily criticised by the British Press. James Brooks, a journalist specialising in the Royal Family has claimed that she had been harassed by the paparazzi. “In the eyes of Harry and William, their Mother was hounded by the paparazzi”, he said.

Popularly remembered as the people’s Princess, pictured above is the late, Lady Diana, former wife of the Crown Prince of England.

While, comparing the treatment of Markle with his mother Princess Diana, Prince Harry said, “My deepest fear is history repeating itself” he continued to say, “I lost my mother because of the same powerful forces and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same forces”. He added that:

A legal spokesperson who is representing the Duchess of Sussex has also confirmed the legal proceedings against the Mail. While, talking to the media he said, “We have initiated legal proceedings against the Mail on Sunday.”

He further stated that this is a ruthless campaign by the media group to publish false and deliberately derogatory stories about the Dutchess of Sussex.

Reportedly, Meghan Markle moved to start proceedings in the high court as the publisher of the Mail misused her private information, causing an infringement of copyright and breach of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
