Despite setting a target of just 174 runs, Peshawar Zalmi managed to trump Karach Kings by 9 runs in the 11th match of the 7th edition of PSL (Pakistan Super League), at the National Stadium, Karachi.

At the loss of four wickets, Peshawar Zalmi defeated the Karachi Kings after a comprehensive match. Karachi Kings won the toss and chose to bowl. The sky seemed clear for the Karachi Kings when Babar Azam played ruthless inning and scored 90 runs off 63 balls, with one six and twelve fours. Except for Babar, no other batter from Kings’ side managed to score above 35 against Zalmi’s bowling line.

Muhammad Umer clinched took three wickets while Shoaib Malik, Usman Qadir and Hussain Malik took one wicket each.

The run rate was going well for the Zalmi until Umaid Asif sent Hazratullah Zazai to the pavilion, after which the team struggled to make score. Kamran Akmal was also removed in the 10th over by Umaid Asif.

Haider Ali and Shoaib Malik seemed in shape to capitalise on the start given by the openers until Haider Ali was removed by Aamir Yamin to crash the Zalmi batting line. After this wicket, Zalmi’s score was 103/3 with seven overs left in the evening.

However, the tables turned when Malik and Ben Cutting played a recovery partnership of 59 runs. Once again, Umaid Asif sent Cutting to the pavilion and ended the partnership.

Peshawar Zalmi’s innings came to an end for 173/4 courtesy of Shoaib Malik’s 52 from 28.
