Lawfare and Pakistan, Farogh Naseem addresses seminar

Lahore, 24th Feb, 2020: According to the reports of Baaghi TV, Punjab Bar Council has made a request from the current government, and demanded a resignation from the Federal Law Minister.

All Bar Councils and Bar Associations of Pakistan have unanimously issued a statement stating that reference filed by the President of Pakistan, against Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, is malicious and against the facts.

The IRC in a joint statement raised concerns against the efforts made by the government to control judiciary and High Courts, they feel that such efforts have been made in the past as well.

In this regard, a press release issued by the Punjab Bar Council on Sunday, 23-02-2020, stated wherein the Law Minister, Farogh Naseem, tried to prove himself a messiah and the lawyer community throughout Pakistan is well aware of his character.

In the past, he had tried all possible conspiracies against democratic institutions. In the present reference also, the role of the motive is extremely disgusting and hateful. Punjab Bar Council condemns and renounces any reference made by Farogh Naseem.

The Bar said that legally the position of the Punjab Bar Council has always been conveyed through the Vice-Chairman Punjab Bar Council to its other members. The lawyer community feels that the Law Minister has tried unsuccessfully to break into their ranks through his personal friends.

It is pertinent to note that the neutrality of the judiciary, led by the Pakistan Bar Council and its Vice Chairman Mr. Abid Saqi, across the country will continue to play its vital role in keeping the continuation of democratic institutions.

We call on the federal government to immediately sack Federal Law Minister, Farogh Naseem to protect themselves from further embarrassment.
