Punjab govt extends lockdown till April 14

Lahore: The Punjab government, on Monday, ordered an extension of the state-wide curfew till April 14 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Home Department has also issued a notification for extension of lockdown. According to the notification, lockdown is being extended due to a rise in the number of cases in the province which is alarming and highly dangerous for the health of the people.
“It is mandatory to take all pragmatic and possible measures to contain and counter the further spread of coronavirus on war footings,” the notification said.

It may be recalled that the government had earlier announced a lockdown across the province from March 24, 2020 which had to end on April 7, 2020.
According to the National Command and Control Center, 397 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours. 15 people have died in Sindh, 15 in Punjab, 16 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 1 in Balochistan, and 3 deaths have been reported in Gilgit-Baltistan.
There are 1493 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Punjab so far which include 309 Zairean, 443 people belonging from Raiwind, 28 prisoners and 600 local residents.
The number of affected patients in Punjab is still more than the other provinces. The toll has risen to 1493 in Punjab, 881 patients in Sindh, 405 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 210 in Gilgit Baltistan, 191 in Balochistan, 82 cases in Islamabad, and 15 cases in Azad Kashmir.
