Punjab Govt issues further notification of hotspot and lockdown areas
The Government of the Punjab Home Department has issued a further notification in the wake of rising COVID-19 cases in the province.
According to the reports of Baaghi TV, ‘in the wake of rapid increase’ of Coronavirus cases across the Lahore district, the Punjab Home Department has issued a further notification of areas to be considered hotspots which require lockdown, which ‘poses a serious threat’ to the public ‘health and order’.
According to reports, the newly placed restrictions include all phases of the following areas:
- Gulberg
- Defense Housing Authority (DHA)
- Model Town
- Faisal Town
- Garden Town
- Gulshan-e-Ravi
- Walled City
According to the reports of Baaghi TV, the notification states that grocery stores, general & Karyana stores, flour shops, fruit and vegetable shops, tandoors, petrol pumps will continue to function between 9 am to 7 pm, as well as medical services such as pharmacies, clinics, sample collection centers and hospitals to remain opened on a 24-hours a day throughout the week. It further stated that milk shops, chicken and meat or fish shops, including bakeries will also be allowed to operate between 7 am to 7 pm.

According to reports, the notification further said that journalists, doctors and paramedical staff would be allowed to come and go, besides government employees, lawyers, pharmacy and grocery staff would also be exempted from the ban. However, Baaghi TV has learnt as per a source that all DHA entries have been sealed in effect to the smart lockdown and they are not even letting doctors and/or nurses enter the premises.
