Qandeel Baloch’s parents pardon accused sons, prosecution cries foul
The high-profile case of the murder of the social media star Qandeel Baloch took a turn on Wednesday as the parents of deceased Qandeel pardoned the accused two sons.
According to the reports of Baaghitv, parents of murdered Qandeel Baloch submitted an affidavit in the court wherein they prayed that amendments made to the Criminal Law Act 2004 with regards to honour killings were not implementable on the case since the murder took place before their enactment two years ago. They prayed that they have pardoned their sons, Waseem and Aslam Shaheen, seeking acquittal for approval and mercy of the Almighty.
The prosecution cried foul on this submission of affidavit by the parents of slain model Qandeel Baloch; they submitted written statement in the court which stressed, ‘compromise agreement’ after the recording of statements from 19 witnesses is tantamount to injustice and is not acceptable according to the amendments made to the Criminal Law Act 2004, killing in the name of honour cannot be pardoned by compromise agreements.
The hearing was adjourned by the court till Thursday.
