Aug 4, 2021: Prime Minister Imran Khan has nominated newly elected MLA Qayyum Niazi for the post of Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir.

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry revealed the name of expected premier of Azad Kashmir in his tweet on Wednesday.

He said after long deliberation and careful analysis of the suggestions, Prime Minister and Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf Imran Khan has nominated newly- elected member of the AJK Legislative Assembly Mr Qayyum Niazi as PM of Azad Kashmir.

According to reports, Qayyum Niazi is a real political activist. Federal Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said that Qayyum Niazi’s nomination was approved by the Prime Minister after long consultations and suggestions. Chaudhry said that Qayyum Niazi is a dynamic and genuine political activist. He said that Qayyum Niazi’s heart beats with the workers.

In the July 25 general elections in Azad Kashmir, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had won 25 seats. One seat was later called by the Election Commission. After winning the other three seats, the PTI is leading in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly with 32 seats, followed by the Pakistan People’s Party with 12 seats and the PML-N with seven seats.
