Quarantined passengers being looted in their motherland
COVID-19 is wreaking havoc across the world and has affected 34,8500 people so far. The death toll from the coronavirus worldwide has risen to 244,778.
People are being affected adversely by the coronavirus, especially those who are away from their homes. Pakistanis working abroad have been hardest hit by the pandemic, especially the ones who got stuck in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The government of Pakistan decided to bring back the stranded passengers from KSA.
The first flight from Riyadh, PK702, arrived in Islamabad on May 1, 2020, where a one-way ticket costing six-seven hundred was handed over to the passengers for 1,861 Saudi Riyals.

The passengers were told that they would be kept in a hotel for two days at a cost of Rs 6,000 and would be sent home after the test was negative. Then in an old bus F 7, they were brought to a hotel called Hill View in Islamabad, the bus fare was charged Rs 500 per person. After arriving there, the hoteliers demanded Rs. 12,000 from the people. People protested that they were told of Rs. 6,000.
The plight of the hotel rooms is pathetic as reported by the suffering passengers. There is no wi-fi and AC for the occupants who are giving double the rent of the rooms.
It may have been tolerable, but when asked about the food menu, it turned out that a cup of tea would cost Rs 100, a 1.5-liter bottle of water would cost Rs 100, and a vegetable dinner would cost 800 to 1,000. Sehri platter was charged for Rs 800 and the Iftar platter cost Rs. 1500 to our brothers from KSA.
According to one of the passengers, on their second day after coming from Riyadh their COVID-19 test samples have not been taken yet.
These are the Pakistanis who had left their families for years and worked day and night to increase the country’s foreign exchange, today in Pakistan they are being looted with both hands.
The country is considered as a mother to you, but these stranded Pakistani are being looted in their own motherland.

Who is accountable for such acts where the people are taking benefit from the crisis? The question is raised for the PIA authorities and other government agencies. Who is accountable to ask these oppressors, Arshad Malik, Zulfi Bukhari, Ejaz Shah Sahib, or Imran Khan himself?
The passengers who are already in trouble need not be looted and robbed at such a time of global calamity.
