Rain in Lahore: Water accumulation in areas, power suspended

According to a report by Baaghi TV, water rose in different parts of the city after rains in Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab. Due to which the citizens faced severe difficulties.

Other areas of Lahore including Airport, Davis Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Rajgarh, GT Road, Ek Moria Bridge, Haji Camp and Ichhra were turned into canals. People are facing difficulties due to accumulation of water on all sides. Vehicles and motorcycles were stopped at underpasses and other places.

After the rains, LESCO’s system also came to a standstill, with feeders tripping in most areas, disrupting power supply. Rains affect LESCO transmission system, more than 100 feeders tripped in Lahore, leaving several areas without power.

The Meteorological Department said that the rains would continue for the next two days in most parts of the country including Punjab.

On the other hand, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar ordered early drainage of rain water in the low lying areas of Lahore.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar said that WASA officials and administration should use all resources for drainage. Drainage work should be completed as soon as possible. Drainage is not tolerated. Drainage should be ensured in minimum time through necessary machinery. WASA and administrative officers themselves should be present in the field.

Earlier, Housing Minister Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed visited different areas of the city during the rains. When several feet of water stood at Naksha Stop, Muslim Town, Ichhra, then he ordered WASA authorities to immediately arrange for drainage.

Minister for Housing Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed inspected Lawrence Road Chowk and the underground tank. Mian Mahmood-ur-Rasheed said that WASA workers and officials are now working hard to evacuate water. Complaints are coming from many areas which are being resolved as soon as possible.
