Rameez Raja to Take Over As Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman

Former Pakistan cricket team Test opener and well-known commentator Rameez Raja will take over as the next chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Reports state that the staff of the Prime Minister’s House has called Rameez Raja and informed him of his new appointment, who confirmed his new role.

The Prime Minister will soon issue a notification to the Governing Board and a few days later elections will be held in the PCB, in which he will be formally elected Chairman.

It may be recalled that rumors had been circulating for the past several days that the tenure of the current PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani would not be extended and the post would be given to Rameez Raja in his place.

These speculations gained momentum when Prime Minister Imran Khan met with Ehsan Mani and Rameez Raja on August 23. Ehsan Mani’s three-year tenure ended yesterday.

According to sources, in the meeting, Ehsan Mani had asked for a second term to complete the “incomplete” tasks, but the Prime Minister had expressed anger over the national team’s poor performance in England.

It is to be noted that Ehsan Mani was appointed by the Prime Minister three years ago as a member of the Board of Governors of the PCB and was elected Chairman in September 2018 after Najam Sethi’s resignation.
