Distinguished Muslim scholar, cleric and religious leader Agha Syed Mohammad Baqir Al-Moosvi passed away today after a brief spell of illness in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He was 85.

The most prominent member of the Agha family of Budgam, Agha Baqir, was not keeping well for some time. His health deteriorated and was rushed to the SMHS Hospital, Srinagar, where he breathed his last in the early hours of Friday.

Funeral prayers will be held soon after Friday prayers and Agha sahab will be laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Budgam, family sources told the media.

Known for his scholarship, eloquent oratory, and contributions to Islamic literature, Agha Baqir had been serving the community since 1982 after the death of family patriarch Agha Syed Yusuf.
