Kuwait suspends flights to Iraq after Baghdad airport attack

Jan 28, 2022: According to a Reuters report, Iraqi police sources said that at least three rockets landed on the grounds of Baghdad International Airport and near an adjacent U.S. airfield, damaging an unused civilian plane.

Police sources did not report any other casualties. They said the damaged plane was an unused aircraft of Iraqi Airways. The U.S. Air Force base, also known as Camp Victory, is located near Baghdad’s Civil Airport.

Rocket attacks, blamed by the United States and some Iraqi officials on Iranian-linked Shiite militia groups that oppose the US military presence in the region, have been a regular target of the complex in recent years.
