Lahore: Capital City Police Officer Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar has said round the clock monitoring of social media pages will be ensured through Special Monitoring Cells in Muharram ul Haram and Police along with CTD and FIA will take strict action against uploading and making viral controversial, blasphemous videos, inciting posts, texts and hate material promoting extremity, religious disputes and sectarianism.

CCPO Lahore stressed upon the need for creating religious harmony and brotherhood, forging unity among the people of different groups, sects and beliefs to ensure maintenance of peace and solidarity in the city in wake of changing situation at Northwestern borders and strategic importance of our country as our enemy can try to shatter the peace of our country and damage our national interests by conspiracy of religious differences. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said that it was the need of the hour to foil nefarious designs of anti-state elements to disturb peace of the country, adding that love and fraternity should be promoted among various sects setting aside our individual and collective differences. He was presiding over an important meeting of Central Executive District Peace Committee ahead of Muharram ul Haram today at District Police Lines Qila Gujar Singh. CCPO Lahore Additional IG Ghulam Mahmood Dogar while talking with the members of DPC said that security arrangements could only be proved successful with integrated efforts and the cooperation of Ulema alongwith civil society. Interfaith harmony, brotherhood and tolerance are necessary to overcome the present challenges by making coordinated efforts for sustainable peace, Dogar added. DIG Operations Sajid Kiani, other senior police officers and members of the Peace Committee including Moulana Muhammad Ali Naqashbandi, Mufti Imran ul Hassan, Mufti Imran Hanfi, Agha Shah Hussain Kazalbash, Syed Mehdi Shah, Hafiz Muhammad Zubair, Moulana Asad Ubaiad, Moulana Mahmood Ul Hassan, Moutasim Elahi Zaheer and Moulana Aziz ur Rehman and other Ulema/members attended the meeting. CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said as many as 7210 majalis will be held in the city, out of these 60 percent will be held during first ten days of Ashura e Muharram. More elaborate and comprehensive security arrangements than last years will be made on this Muharram in wake of security threats. He appealed the Ulema-e-Karam to play their effective role for promotion of peace and religious harmony during the month of Muharram ul Haram. He asked them to extend support to the government in its efforts for elimination of crimes as well as extremisms in the society along with implementation of standard operational procedures(SOPs) in Imam Bargahs and religious processions during majalis in wake of fourth variant Corona wave. Ghulam Mahmood Dogar said Lahore Police has always welcomed different proposals and suggestions from Ulema to ensure peace in the sacred month of Muharram and said that he is available to every member of DPC and his doors are always open for any guidance and support to the Ulema in any emergency and untoward situation. DIG Operations Sajid Kiani stressed to streamline effective and regular coordination between the members of Peace Committee and other stakeholders including Lahore Police. Ulema-e-Karam from different religious parties appreciated the efforts of Lahore Police for establishment of permanent peace in the city. They assured their full cooperation for establishment of peace and enforcement of Corona SOPs in letter and spirit at religious places during the month of Muharram ul Haram.
