The Polish military has alleged that a Russian missile passed through the country’s airspace on Friday, entering from and back into Ukraine.
According to Al Arabiya reports, the Polish military claimed a Russian missile passed through its airspace as Russia engaged with Ukraine in one of its biggest missile attacks since the start of the war. The attack claimed the lives of thirty-one civilians injuring 120 others as Russia hit residential buildings in Kyiv.

General Wieslaw Kukula, chief of the general staff of the Polish armed forces, said: “Everything indicates that a Russian missile entered Polish airspace… It also left our airspace”. Speaking with reports, Kukula added that they have “national and allied radar confirmation” of the situation.
On the other hand, Maciej Klisz, the operational commander of the Polish military confirmed that the missile was in Poland’s airspace for approximately three minutes. According to Klisz: “We sent our forces, fighter jets, to intercept it and shoot it down if necessary but the duration and the flight path… made this impossible and allowed the missile to leave Polish territory”.

The operational commander further confirmed that their defense system was on alert because of a wave of Russian drone and missile strikes on Ukraine. The Polish military also confirmed that it carried out a ground search operation in the area where the missile was lost.
Officials have said that after the incident, civilian and military authorities held emergency meetings while President Andrzej Duda spoke with Jens Stoltenberg, the NATO Chief.
Before this, in November of 2022, a Ukrainian missile fell in the Polish village of Przewodow near the border which resulted in two civilians being killed.
