Lahore, 25th August: In the latest development, Saudi Arabia has allowed direct travel for passengers from Pakistan to the Kingdom.

According to details, Saudi Arabia on Tuesday announced its decision to allow fully vaccinated ex-pats to enter the Kingdom directly from countries with travel bans including Pakistan.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan embassy in Riyadh welcomed the decision by the Kingdom and shared the same on its official Twitter account.

The embassy wrote, “The Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh welcomes the decision of the Govt of the KSA to allow direct travel from Pakistan to KSA, for those having valid Saudi residency permits, and who have received 2 doses of Covid-19 vaccine inside KSA, before their departure from the Kingdom.”

According to the Saudi Gazette, the new policy in the coronavirus rules will apply only to those foreigners who have a valid residency permit (Iqama) and left the country on an exit and re-entry visa after receiving two shots of the coronavirus vaccine from Saudi Arabia.

It may be noted that countries including India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Egypt, Turkey, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia, Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Lebanon are on KSA’s list of travel ban countries.

Earlier this month, the Kingdom eased its restrictions when it allowed conditional entry to travelers who had been fully vaccinated with the Chinese vaccines namely Sinopharm and Sinovac and those who had a booster shot too against COVID-19.

KSA government said on its official visa website, “Guests who have completed two doses of the Sinopharm or Sinovac vaccines will be accepted if they have received an additional dose of one of the four vaccines approved in the Kingdom.”

it is pertinent to mention here that Saudi health authorities have only approved the following four vaccines so far: AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson and Johnson.

The Saudi government has made it mandatory that all passengers entering the country will show proof of COVID-19 vaccination along with a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours earlier to departure.

Hence, no passenger who is fully vaccinated against the virus is required to undergo quarantine in the Kingdom now.
