July 26, 2021: Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud is visiting Pakistan on Tuesday at the invitation of Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

He will be accompanied by a delegation of senior Saudi Arabian government officials. During the visit, the two Foreign Ministers will discuss bilateral relations and regional and international issues. The Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister will also meet with other dignitaries during his visit.

Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia in May 2021 is significant in the context of Saudi Arabia. This will provide a timely opportunity to review the progress in bilateral cooperation in line with the vision of the leadership of the two countries.

In a statement, Foreign Office spokesman Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have a long and historic fraternal relationship, rooted in common beliefs, common history and mutual support. He said that relations have been marked by close cooperation in all fields and mutual cooperation on regional and international issues.

Zahid Hafeez Chaudhry said that Saudi Arabia is a member of the OIC Contact Group on Jammu and Kashmir and has always supported the Kashmir cause. Frequent high-level visits are a key feature of this relationship, helping to deepen and broaden the relationship in many ways.

The spokesman said that the visit of the Saudi Foreign Minister would strengthen the positive momentum in further deepening bilateral exchanges and bilateral cooperation in various fields.

There have been moments of tension between the two allies over Pakistan’s demand that Saudi Arabia should convene a special session of OIC Foreign Ministers to discuss India’s annexation of Occupied Kashmir.

“The Saudi foreign minister is expected in Islamabad on a day-long visit during the next week, during which bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields would be reviewed,” Prime Minister Imran Khan’s special Assistant on the Middle East Tahir Ashrafi, told Arab News, while a Saudi Embassy official said Prince Faisal is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday.

The crown prince was in Islamabad on a high-profile visit in February 2019, during which Saudi Arabia signed investment deals with Pakistan worth $20 billion.
