Dec 20, 2021: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud met with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed issues of mutual interest.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the two officials discussed regional security, the current situation in Afghanistan and bilateral defense relations.

The COAS thanked the Saudi leadership for convening the 17th Extraordinary Summit of the OIC in Islamabad. ISPR quoted General Qamar as saying that the extraordinary OIC meeting was crucial to channelize international efforts and save Afghanistan from security and humanitarian crises.

“Pakistan values its historical and brotherly relations with KSA [Kingdom of Saudi Arabia] and acknowledges the kingdom’s unique place in the Islamic world,” reiterated the army chief.

The COAS also stressed the need for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute for stability in South Asia. He reiterated that Pakistan seeks cordial relations with all its neighbors for regional peace and prosperity.

The Saudi Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s role in the Afghan situation, special efforts for border management, its role in regional stability and pledged to play its part in further enhancing diplomatic cooperation with Pakistan at all levels.
