Saudi Foreign Minister meets Pakistan COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa

July 28, 2021: The Saudi Foreign Minister,  His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud held a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa in Rawalpindi.

Chief of Army Staff (COOS) General Qamar Bajwa met Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud during his visit to Pakistan on Wednesday. According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and COS Bajwa discussed issues of mutual interest, highlighting the security situation in the region, including the Afghanistan peace process, and regional peace and cooperation.

Assuring Pakistan of full cooperation, the KSA Foreign Minister appreciated Pakistan’s sincere efforts and its role in promoting peace and stability in the region. In his remarks, the Army Chief said that relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are based on brotherhood and mutual trust as the two countries will continue to play their role for peace and stability.

Furthermore, Bajwa praised the Saudi leadership for KSA’s support of Pakistan and its armed forces.

On the other hand, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud met with Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday. Prime Minister Imran Khan warmly welcomed the Saudi Foreign Minister and reaffirmed the deep roots and historical ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, matters of bilateral interest, the evolving security situation of the region including the Afghanistan peace process, and collaboration for regional peace and connectivity were discussed.

Assuring Pakistan of unflinching support, the Saudi foreign minister appreciated the sincere efforts and role Pakistan played for promoting peace and stability in the region.

The COAS said that the relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Pakistan are based on bonds of brotherhood and mutual trust as both nations will continue to play their part for peace and stability.

The Army Chief thanked the Saudi leadership for KSA’s support to Pakistan and its Armed Forces.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister also sent congratulatory greetings to King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman. Prime Minister Khan has eagerly recalled his visit to Saudi Arabia in May 2021.

In accordance with the decisions taken on the occasion, Prime Minister Khan highlighted the various follow-ups and stressed the need to find new avenues of mutual cooperation to further deepen bilateral relations in various fields. Prime Minister Imran Khan in particular stressed the need to take steps to strengthen the economic dimension of relations and to understand the vast potential in the areas of trade, investment and energy.

He lauded the work of the Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council (SPSC), a high-level platform designed to provide a strategic direction to the development of Pak-Saudi relations. They discussed the epidemic situation in both countries and South Asia.

Thanking the Prime Minister for the warm welcome extended by the Saudi delegation, Prince Faisal emphasized the importance that Saudi Arabia builds its strong ties with Pakistan on the basis of brotherly relations.
