Feb 10, 2022: Four women from Saudi Arabia have made it to the Forbes list of 50 most powerful businesswomen.

According to “Al-Arabiya”, the names of Saudi Arabia’s Sara Al-Sahimi, Hatham Aliyan, Lubna Aliyan and Bismillah Al-Ma’min have appeared in the list of Forbes most powerful business figures. In addition to Saudi Arabia, the list of East’s 50 leading, influential and successful businesswomen includes women from the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Morocco, Kuwait and Oman.

Forbes says the rankings take into account revenue, assets, market capitalization, nominations, overall work experience, achievements over the past year, corporate social responsibility and editorial points.

At number four on Forbes’ list is Sarah Al-Sahimi, the first Saudi woman to chair the country’s stock exchange exchange, which is the largest stock market in the Middle East. Sarah Al-Sahimi is also a board member of Saudi Telecom Company. In addition to being a trustee of the International Financial Reporting Standards Foundation, she has served on the Cultural Development Fund and on the board of directors of Saudi Airlines.

Sixth on the list is Hatham Alian, Chairperson of the Saudi Alian Group. The Group is a Private and Multinational Financial Enterprise. According to Forbes Middle East, the group’s real estate assets include 550 Madison Avenue in New York, Knightsburg Estate in London and Hotel Ritz in Madrid.

Lubna Alyan is ranked 11th on the Forbes list. She has been the Chief Executive Officer of Alyan Finance for over 30 years. In 2019, she became the Chairman of Saudi British Bank and joined the board of directors of Alyan Saudi Company. She became the first woman to become the chairwoman of the Saudi British Bank (ABB) the same year. She also chaired the board of Al-Awwal Bank, which merged with SABB in 2021.

Fifteenth on the list was Bismillah Al-Memon, Regional Director for the Middle East at the United Nations World Tourism Organization. She has held the position since 2018 and is the first citizen of a member country of the Gulf Cooperation Council to take the lead in the UNWTO and the first woman to lead the region in the organization’s history.

Recognized as one of the youngest CEOs in North Africa and the Middle East region, she previously served on the Saudi Commission for Tourism and National Heritage (SCTH) for more than 17 years.
